Suspected weapons facilitator arrested outside Kirkuk

TIKRIT, Iraq – Iraqi Security Forces, with U.S. advisors, arrested a suspected al-Qaeda in Iraq cell leader 10 kilometers north of Kirkuk City, Kirkuk province, March 12.
ISF believe the suspect is responsible for coordinating the transportation of various improvised explosive devices and explosives, including magnetic IEDs, from Sulaymaniyah province into the Ramadi area of al-Anbar province.
The suspect is also believed responsible for the smuggling of weapons from Bayji, Salah ad-Din province to Haditath, al-Anbar province.
An Iraqi court issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
In accordance with the Security Agreement and in coordination with the Iraqi government, Iraqi and U.S. forces conduct joint operations to target terrorists seeking to disrupt the security and stability of Iraq.
