The leader of the state of law, Saad al-Muttalabi, confirmed on Wednesday (February 12, 2020) that the Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi, as of now, has not obtained a parliamentary majority, which gives him confidence in the House of Representatives.

Al-Muttalabi said in an interviewwith (Baghdad Today), that "Allawi up to now does not have any parliamentary majority to vote on granting him confidence in Parliament," noting that "those with him now do not exceed the (60) deputies, only."

Al-Muttalabi indicated that there are "deputies who see the formation of the Allawi government as useless."

And he stated, "Prime Minister Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi has two options, and there is no third for them, either to give the political blocs the ministries that they want, and here the vote guarantees him to grant confidence in parliament, or he apologizes for the assignment, because he obtained a parliamentary majority in support of him."

On a related matter, Al-Muttalabi said that "all political blocs and the Iraqi people, and the demonstrators, also believe that pressure on the formation of the new government comes through constitutional processes, and the selection of ministers should be based on competence and integrity."

He added, "The process of threatening to close or besiege the Green Zone will aggravate the situation and do not call for a solution. Therefore, we call on all political forces to commit to the peaceful demonstrations to achieve the demands."

The leader of the "Sadrist movement," the governor of Zamili, Monday (February 10, 2020), confirmed that his current was ready to bring down the government of Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi in the event that the "corrupt parties" wrapped it.

Al-Zamili said in an interview with (Baghdad Today), that "the Sadrist movement can bring down the Allawi government in the event that corrupt parties turn around", noting that "our mass base and members of the House of Representatives have the ability to bring down the Allawi government."

Earlier in the day, the former Deputy Prime Minister, Bahaa Al-Araji, confirmed on Wednesday (February 12, 2020) that the resigned Prime Minister, Adel Abdul-Mahdi, informed the political blocs of not continuing his position for one minute after the end of the 30-day period.

Al-Araji said in a tweet on the platform "Twitter": "After meeting yesterday with the Prime Minister-designate of the resigned, the second informed the political blocs that he will not continue in office for even a minute after the lapse of 30 days from the date of the mandate."

He added, "By this, the President of the Republic replaces him according to Article 81 of the Constitution, and this is a way to pressure those blocs to accept Allawi's methodology of reform."
