US officials have revealed that the US Congress began taking action on charges of running former President Barack Obama, thwarting an investigation into the activities of the Lebanese Hezbollah, including the drug trade in the United States, as she put it.

"The Obama administration has committed a number of abusesin order to conclude a nuclear agreement with Iran, among which Washington has turned a blind eye to the drug smuggling and money laundering operations being carried out by Hezbollah inside US territory," a report by the Politico newspaper reported.

"Although the US Drug Enforcement Administration launched the Cassandra project in 2008 to target Hezbollah's illegal operations, a series of obstacles put in place by the Obama administration prevented the pursuit of militia activities linked to the Iranian Wali al-Faqih regime," the report said.

David Asher, a senior member of the House Committee on Finance, said that "these actions have contributed to the growing strength of terrorism both financially and militarily, with almost a third of its wealth being derived from the smuggling, manufacture and sale of drugs."

Investigators in Congress are currently preparing letters to various US government agencies for more information about the alleged interference, according to informed sources.
