Barham Saleh sends an urgent request to the United States of America

The President of the Republic, Barham Ahmed Saleh, called on the United States of America to spare Iraq the consequences of regional tensions in the region against the backdrop of the sanctions imposed on Iran.

This came during a meeting with US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan, according to a statementissued by the Office of Saleh, and received by Sky Press, adding that "the President received at the Peace Palace in Baghdad on Sunday afternoon, Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan, along with the US ambassador to Iraq Douglas Sulaiman".

The President stressed during the meeting the need to "spare Iraq and the consequences of international politics and regional tensions, taking into consideration the location and status of Iraq, and stressing the sovereignty of Iraq and its national interest in stabilizing the stability that contributes to the reconstruction and development of infrastructure of areas affected by terrorism," according to the statement .

For his part, Deputy Foreign Minister Sullivan reiterated "his country's support for Iraq in various fields," stressing that "his country seeks to develop its relations with Iraq and promote joint cooperation, especially in the economic fields and encourage investment."
