Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi on Saturday opened the Baghdad International Fair, saying the exhibition was "the beginning of the development and advancement of the Iraqi economy."
"The development of the Iraqi economy is one of the basic prioritiesof the government," Abdul-Mahdi said in his speech at the opening of the Baghdad International Fair in its 45th session on Saturday, stressing "the need to provide an appropriate investment environment for launching projects."
He pointed out that "obstacles are still in place to carry out investment projects, and must contribute to reconstruction to achieve benefit for all," noting that "wars destroyed infrastructure and Iraq does not bear responsibility for construction alone."
"Our battle today is to enforce law and order, and we do not want a single commodity economy," he said.
