[BAGHDAD-IN] Former water resources minister Mohsen Asfour al-Shammari said on Sunday that "the mafias in the country are still stronger than governments and control their decisions."
"The survival of the mafias with the same strength to me now and the weakness of the governments is causing an imminent collapse of the political systembecause of its complete separation from the people's issues and we go into chaos in the absence of alternative," Shammari said in a statement received by the agency.
He added that "the mismanagement and lack of oversight is still present in the government and the Prime Minister must address the negative phenomena and the need to select competencies from the electronic window as promised," noting that "the current political system is breathing its last."
"The quasi-politicians are fighting to keep the right side of the equation and raise slogans to fight the left side and the Iraqi people under the knives of terrorism and the pits of corruption."
