Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper revealed on Saturday that the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, will issue a decree next Monday to officially assign Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani to head the government.
The newspaper quoted a political source as sayingthat "the competition during the last two days for the selection of a candidate for prime minister was between the director of the intelligence service, Mustafa al-Kazemi, and the deputy Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, before it was almost finalized for the Sudanese."

The source, who requested not to be named, added that "the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, will issue next Monday, one day before the end of the constitutional deadline, a Republican decree to officially assign the Sudanese to the position after it was agreed upon by political blocs and the lack of basic objections to his assumption of the position." .

It is noteworthy that next Monday, the constitutional deadline for choosing a prime minister will end at 12:00 pm, after the resignation of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi from his post on the 29th of last November, and the approval of the House of Representatives to resign on the first of December this year.
