A member of the Finance Committee of the Iraqi Parliament has announced that Sunni and Shi'a members of the Council have demanded that the government be given the authority to refer the budget bill to the Council of Representatives, but an amendment to the internal curriculum of the Council of Ministersmust be made for this purpose.

In a press statement, Jamal Kahr, a member of the Finance Committee of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, said that "the current government is a caretaker government and it has no authority to send a draft budget law to the House of Representatives, until the new government begins its work, then it will have jurisdiction."

"A number of members of the House of Representatives, from both Sunnis and Shiites, demanded that the current government be given the authority to refer the budget to the House of Representatives, but an amendment must be made to the internal system of the Council of Ministers, since without amending the system they cannot refer the law," Kehr added.

And the Media Department of the Iraqi Council of Representatives published that efforts are underway to give the current government the authority to send the budget bill to the House of Representatives.
