Legal expert, Ali Al-Tamimi, revealed the sanctions that threaten Iraq after the attack on the American embassy in Baghdad.

Al-Tamimi said, “According to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Action and Diplomatic Relations of 1961, Iraq is obligated and is a signatory to this agreement to protect embassies and consulatesbecause it is part of the soil of the country to which they belong.”

He added, "Every agreement is deposited with a copy of it, at the United Nations in accordance with Article 102 of the Charter of the United Nations. Here, the United Nations has the right to impose sanctions on the country violating this agreement, as happened in 1979 when the United Nations imposed sanctions on Iran and a large financial fine by a decision of the International Court of Justice The United Nations against the background of the events of the American embassy in Iran and the detention of staff.

He continued, "Iraq is threatened by these sanctions with these attacks because it is the duty of Iraq to protect these embassies ... As we said the embassy ... is part of the soil of the country to which it belongs and therefore this attack is a threat to peace and international security ... Iraq may return to Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations and international custody. Ended (w, u)
