Speaker of Parliament Muhammad Al-Halbousi announced that the presidency of the parliament has not yet decided the date for the extraordinary session.
Al-Halbousi stressed in a press statement, "The position of the political forces must be cleartowards the government, and the ministerial curriculum must be handed over two days before the special session."
He added, "A parliamentary committee will be formed, headed by a deputy speaker of parliament, to evaluate the ministerial program."
Al-Halbousi's speech came in contradiction to the statement of his deputy, Hassan Al-Kaabi, who said that "the House of Representatives is obliged to hold an extraordinary session next Monday to give confidence to the next government, according to the call of the resigned Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi," calling "the parliament to convene according to the law."
