Baghdad / .. Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed, Monday, that it will stand against the government's decision to go towards external borrowing to fill the expected deficit in the draft federal budget law for 2020.

Member of the Committee MP Hanin Qaddo said in a press statement that "the Finance Committee will not approve the cabinet decision to go towards external borrowing because it affects the country's economy during the coming years," noting that "the external borrowing decision will not be implemented without being passed in Parliament."

He added that "the House of Representatives voted on a previous decision obliging the government not to borrow abroad, as going to external borrowing needs a vote in the House of Representatives," noting that "internal borrowing is the only solution to overcome the expected crisis."
