Baghdad today - Baghdad

The Parliamentary Integrity Committee announced, Monday (06 July 2020), that important corruption files are submitted to the Public Prosecution for 6 ministries and two bodies, stressing the need to activate the anti-corruption laws and support the Integrity Commission.

Committee member Abdul-Amir Al-Mayahi said in a press statement I followed (Baghdad today) that "there are those who talk about accusing ministers and officials of corruption operations, and raise their files to the Public Prosecution or the Integrity Commission," noting that "there is a slowdown and delay in those institutions."

He added that "the committee has submitted important corruption files related to the ministries (oil, electricity, health, industry, trade, agriculture, customs and border ports) to the public prosecutor, but we have not seen any action taken with these files so far."

Al-Mayahi stressed that "we are awaiting the government and its measures to combat corruption, as presented in the government program," warning that "the country will sink more and more if this file is ignored and neglected."
