The Parliamentary Investigative Committee for Electricity Contracts revealed, on Tuesday, its intention to go to the Ministry’s building tomorrow to open its files after 2006.
Member of the committee, Mudhar Salman Al-Zirajawi, said, "The investigative parliamentary committee in the electricity sector held yesterday the first session, which was a preparation for the investigation of corruption and waste of public money in the Ministry of Electricity."

He added that "the committee will go, tomorrow, Wednesday, to the building of the Ministry of Electricity to hold its meeting with Minister Majid Hantoush and the ministry's agents and general managers and see the files and some priorities," noting that the committee "will see what can be withdrawn from files and benefit from them in the investigation."

Al-Azrajawi pointed out that "the committee will open all contract files in the Ministry of Electricity after 2006, including signing contracts with companies, referring projects and the appointments file in the ministry."

On July 12, the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, directed the formation of a committee to audit and investigate the contracts of the Ministry of Electricity.

And the committee held yesterday, Monday, its first session headed by First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hassan Al-Kaabi, who confirmed spending more money on the electricity sector than other ministries without any development.
