Iraq stops importing fuel for first time since 2003!

For first since the 2003-U.S. invasion Iraq produces enough fuel to meet all its domestic needs, the Oil Ministry said in a statement.
“We have reached the state of self-sufficiency in fuel products such as gasoline, kerosene and liquefied gas,” the statement said.
It said no fuel products were imported in the past three months.
The announcement is good news as the country use to reel under acute fuel shortages.
Fuel imports cost the ministry hundreds of millions of dollars. The statement did not say what the ministry intends to do with the savings.
It is yet to be seen whether the ministry will meet demand during the peak summer season.
The statement did not make promises of no more imports. It said the ministry might resort to fuel imports if necessary.\kurd.htm
