Iraq has not yet received one dollar from pledges made by the Kuwait donors' conference, the Qatari daily al-Arabi reported in a report published Monday.
The newspaper quoted an official source as saying that "Iraq has not yet received one dollar from the pledges of countries thatparticipated in the Kuwait conference for the reconstruction of Iraq, despite the passage of two months and the great effort made by the embassies and Iraqi missions in those countries recently, Kuwaiti and Qatari associations in the fields of education and health in Falluja, Mosul and other areas have been classified as affected. "
The source attributed the reason to "technical aspects and other matters related to the circumstances of those countries as well," explaining that "the Iraqi government confirmed that it distributed forms to the countries pledged at the Kuwait Conference for the purpose of rooting the subject and start a plan for reconstruction."
He said that "most of the countries decreased their interaction and there is a chill in the subject," explaining that "Iraq is currently seeking to identify the positions of those countries, and know whether they will keep their promises or not."
The Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq was held between February 12 and 14, with the participation of 76 countries and international and regional organizations
