The American Embassy in the capital, Baghdad, announced on Monday (03 August 2020) the nomination of President Donald Trump as a judge of Iraqi descent for a high position, while the Senate approved the nomination of the judge.

The embassy said in a statement received (Baghdad today), that "the Judicial Committee in the Senate approved the nomination of President Trump, the judge of the Oakland County Department in the Michigan State of Michigan, of origin, Hala Jarbou ', during a virtual hearing to become a federal judge."

The statement added, "Gerboa emigrated to the United States when she was a child with her family, and thus Hala is the first American Chaldean to be nominated to work as a federal judge."
