The Information Office of the Minister of State for Combating Corruption in the caretaker government, Nicola Tueni, confirmed that he received news of a financial transfer from the Central Bank of Iraq to the Lebanese banks by paying a deposit from the Central Bank of Iraq Branch of Erbil.

"We thank Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi, acting finance minister Maher Hammad Johan, central bank director Ali al-Alak and allthose who helped and contributed to the recovery of these sums for Lebanese banks," he said in a statement.

We hope that all issues of outstanding debt between the Iraqi state and Lebanese companies and institutions will be closed within the framework of the principle of brotherhood and friendship between the peoples of the two brotherly Arab countries.

"The special thanks are for the support we have received from President Michel Aoun in the successful implementation of this national mission," he said.
