Member of Parliament, Faeq Sheikh Ali, commented, on Saturday (1 February 2020), on Allawi's announcement of his mandate to form the new government.

Sheikh Ali said, in a tweet on the Twitter platform: "You are not qualified to form a government," noting: "Iran and its tails brought you. And assigning you a crimeagainst Iraq and its people."

He pointed out that "the Iraqis revolted and offered thousands of martyrs and wounded, not for the sake of replacing Adel Abdul Mahdi with you. You are a replica of him, cowardice and banality!", As he put it.

And he continued: "Rather, they revolted for the dignity of the homeland and salvation from dependency," addressing Allawi: Leave or else!

Earlier, on Saturday (1 February 2020), Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi announced that he was formally assigned to head the new government.

Allawi said, through a video, posted on his Facebook wall, that the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, had assigned him a little while ago to form a new government.

He called for "continuing demonstrations until the demands are met, the killers are held accountable, and early elections are held."
