The leadership of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK ) confirmed today that its candidate for the presidency, Barham Salih, is the closest to taking office.
"There are positive signs from Shiite deputies and Sunnis in the federal parliament that indicate their intention to votefor Barham Saleh, at the expense of the candidate of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Fuad Hussein," Sheikh Diller said in a press statement.
She added: "Even the negotiations and meetings between the Kurdish parties in which a response and a large offer on the need to be Saleh the President of the Republic to be considered the closest to Baghdad and the political parties there."
The House of Representatives, has announced a list of candidates for the presidency of the Republic, who met the legal requirements for the nomination for the post, noting that 31 members nominated.
