United Nations confirms its keenness on cooperation with the Arab League to support Iraq

The Special Representative of the United Nations in Iraq, Ad Melkert, the UN is keen on coordination and cooperation with the League of Arab States on the situation in Iraq and the ongoing reconstruction process there, and that during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Amr Moussa yesterday at the headquarters of the Arab League.
The Melkert told reporters after the meeting yesterday that he discussed with Moussa the latest developments in the Iraqi arena and efforts to form a new government, and the requirements of the stability of Iraq.
He added that he had discussed with Moussa the United Nations role in Iraq, where the "international organization encourages the efforts to form a partnership government and an Iraqi national to be done soon," adding that "the efforts of the United Nations will continue with all Iraqi political parties in this regard."
Melkert stressed the UN is keen to work with the League of Arab States and other countries in the region that wish to be supportive of the process of reconstruction and construction in Iraq.
