Baghdad, Dec. 14 (AKnews) - A member of the National coalition said on Tuesday, that the Iraqi government and the parliament are double paying 34 deputies, pointing out that those members did not take the oath until now.
Haidar al-Yasiri told AKnews that 34 deputies of different blocs are still receiving two salaries for their work in government jobs, as members of the current parliament, and they did not vow the constitutional oath for the membership of Parliament yet.
"The Iraqi Constitution in Article 49 prevents the deputy from joining two legislative, executive jobs even if requested by the Prime Minister."
"The Integrity board takes the responsibility of accounting the deputies who are paid two salaries at the same time for the fact that it is one of the most important tasks entrusted to it," noting that "the parliament has not taken any action in this regard ". "The sentence against any government employee who receives two salaries is either imprisonment or a fine after it is approved his involvement in receiving two salaries from two different departments."
The total remuneration of the 325 new deputies from the amounts, benefits, salaries, and advances, according to observers is up to 81 billion and 250 million Iraqi Dinars, since last June to mid-October, while a total salary of the Attorney is 32 million Iraqi Dinars per month.
