2-18-2013 Med IF THEY EVER RESOLVE THE HCL THAT IS A SIGN OF THINGS MAYBE SOFTENING ON STANCES. ALSO IS TALIBANI DEAD, SOUNDS A BIT COLD, BUT THIS IS HOW A MAKE OR BREAK WORKS AND IF HE IS DEAD DOES ALLAWI MOVE INTO THE POR POSITION. ALSO THE MOVE BY THE KURDISTAN ALLIANCE TO SAY NO TO REMOVING NAJAFI AND JUST WHAT ARE THE PROTESTS ACCOMPLISHING. IT APPEARS THAT AT THE LEVEL THEY ARE AT, THEY ARE NOT SUCCESSFUL. IT WILL TAKE AN ESCALATION TO PUSH THINGS FORWARD NOW, IT APPEARS, WHICH MEANS BLOODSHED AND MOST LIKELY A LOT OF IT SO THAT IS WHAT I AM LOOKING AT. I WANT TO MAKE ONE THING PERFECTLY CLEAR AS FAST AS THIS DISASTER HIT IRAQ AND OUR INVESTMENT IT CAN CLEAR UP JUST AS FAST.

2-18-2013 Kaperoni Article: "Iraq has elements of economic qualify to join the World Trade" Iraq needs to make the dinar internationally convertible by going to Article 8 of the IMF guidelines. What "regime" they use is yet the be determined (we anticipate a free float). This article refers to "laws" and more than likely there are several waiting on a final vote to liberalize the economy which will facilitate investment, trade, etc. An article the other day stated much of those will pass in a "basket" directly after the vote on the budget.

2-18-2013 Okie_Oil_Man THIS APPEARS TO BE A WEEK OF SUCH HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE THAT YOUR GREAT GRANDCHILDREN WILL READ ABOUT IT IN THEIR HISTORY BOOK'S 100 YEAR'S FROM NOW----NUFF SAID!!!

2-18-2013 Bondlady Article: "Issuing currency class 100 thousand dinars soon |on 18.02.2013 | Author Ali Hussein | ---BAGHDAD / electronic integrity The adviser said the Iraqi Central Bank the appearance of Mohammed" Saleh, said that "the Iraqi currency needs to expand, and we will work on issuing currency class 100 thousand dinars." IF this is true then their not going to release the ld's imo their going to continue on with the notes we have right now which imo means the 000's will be coming off the rate and not the notes. a year ago, when the articles said all through the years the zeros would come off 1 by 1 as the economy improved, i think this is really whats happening here if that article is true...this is what we want to happen, no freakin lop...if they were to take it off the money we wanted ours to be face value at least. i personally firmly believed and still do... that before we could ever see an rv there was at least 3 major things that had to happen first: 1 - implement article 140, 2 - hydro carbon law and 3 - monetary change. 2 weeks ago i found the hcl article where it said they tirelessly worked on the hcl until it was finally ready for its first reading in parliament, we have article 140 pretty much a done deal, checks are supposed to go out tomorrow to pay compensation or the beginning of paying out but major check disbursement, kuwaits got settled 500 million USD for their airway/ airlines and after 22 years now have flights to and from kuwait to bagdad, and then tomorrow i believe the budget will pass and because they have fought over it for basically 6 months already it should be activated within 15 days after its passed provided that no one files any new amendments to it which i dont think they will. some very good news out lately... good things coming i think.

2-18-2013 Kaperoni Article: "CBI reveals issuing currency class 100 thousand dinars soon 02/12/2013 Palm - central bank adviser said the Iraqi "appearance of Mohammed Saleh" that the Iraqi currency need to expand and we will issue a currency class 100 thousand dinars." This is a strange article. Saleh is not at the CBI anymore, yet it mentions former CBI Shabibi. The article was posted and dated yesterday and but appears to be old information. Go figure. Unless they are just trying to keep attention on the currency in Iraq. And the reference to 100,000 dinar is easy because Iraqi's would understand. When in reality, it's a 100 dinar.

2-19-2013 Delta [via Leo] a free float will never work for Iraq because Iraq only has oil to export and oil is tied to the dollar. when the rate comes out it will basically shock a lot of people in a good way...I might be wrong!! I like to give you one last thing to think about, Iraq told the CBI they are going to print 28 billion dinar .. with a population of about 32 million people with a GDP of about 120 billion for the year .. in order to do that the rate has to be over $3.00 .. everyone will be happy .. don't listen to those articles .. Iraq government and the media did a excellent job misleading a lot of people nation wide and around the country.

2-19-2013 ****** [article: "CBI is working to issue currency class of 100 thousand dinars soon; Urgent need for coin Posted: February 18, 2013 in Iraqi Dinar/Politics"] IT'S SMOKE. IT'S A OLD ARTICLE SENT OUT AGAIN.

2-19-2013 Bulldog75 [what's your take on the Dong?] .33 IS A NICE NUMBER.

2-19-2013 Joey [via RVme] The Kurds said Sunday Barzani will release an initiative to call the National Meeting which will occur in March to gather all political blocs and settle crisis. They have 2 calendars in Iraq. February and March are considered the SAME month. If all the delegations arrive next week, then why isn't Barzani going to be in the country? Barzani will be in Moscow February 19-23. She says they already told us they...had a meeting. She says makes ya wonder, doesn't it?

2-19-2013 American Contractor [long, long time, no see] There has been major conflict between the Shia, Sunni, Kurds, along with the Iraqi government that is causing a rift in passing the Iraq national budget. There are many other hurdles in the process of getting a national budget passed in Iraq. For starters, there is a parade of non-stop protests in Iraqi cities calling for the ouster of PM Maliki. In the meantime, PM Maliki will hold onto power and look forward to the next national elections in 2014. There are Iraq politicians carefully taking sides and others who are just watching the current situation unfold. Most politicians are refraining from participating in anything related to government affairs, such as passing a bill. They are fearful of alienating themselves should a new power government powers step up. The typical Iraqi politician is very cautious in who he aligns himself with as it could result in a loss of employment or demotion from a high level position from within the central government. The Kurds are disgruntled with the Iraq central government. The Kurds had previously maintained the national budget at 17% and now PM Maliki wants to cut it to a mere 12%. The cut is estimated to be costing hundreds of millions of dollars. The intention is to fund services and projects. The reason behind the cuts is to compensate for the deficit when the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) decided to stop paying the central government in oil sales. ExxonMobile has made a corporate decision to drill in northern section of Iraq and is contemplating on giving up the oil fields in the southern part. Regarding the Iraqi dinar currency situation, there has not been any signs of uplifting the suspension of the printing of the new Iraq dinar currency. A finance committee meeting will commence in Late March or early April to determine the status of the printing of the new currency. Be aware that, this is not to be mistaken as a sign that something is going to happen in March or April.

2-19-2013 Poppy3 I TOLD EVERYONE THERE WOULD BE ZERO ACCOMPLISHMENTS WHILE OUR PEOPLE ARE THERE. PARLIAMENT POSTPONED TILL THURSDAY AND IF OUR...DIGNITARIES ARE STILL THERE THEY WILL POSTPONE AGAIN MAYBE ALL THE WAY TO NEXT WEEK. WHEN OUR PEOPLE LEAVE IRAQ WE WILL SEE SOME FURTHER PROGRESS.

2-19-2013 Doc We encourage everyone to take a deep breath and quit getting caught up in the minutia of a single event...there is not one event that will "trigger" currency reform and especially not the budget. Budgets have come and gone without the RV and this one could easily be no different. We need to remember the goal is to have Iraq's economic fundamentals strong for the long term. To get there things like a stable GOI, secure assets (HCL), banking laws, etc.. need to be in place. As we have speculated and we continue to believe many of these will come quickly together once the first domino falls. Yes, the budget could be in the "dominoes" but it is not the exclusive event for the RV. [post 1 of 3....stay tuned]

2-19-2013 OCrush The other blocs are fine, its the kurds and the national alliance that are still negotiating. The good thing is Nujaifi is presiding so there is a good chance this will finish today.....[ADDED COMMENT] Word is the NA and the Kurds have agreed. They will have there prayers and hopefully go back for the vote. This is Nujaifis choice. He wants everyone to feel comfortable. He may postpone it till tomorrow or thursday. Don't forget this is the second to last hurdle, once they pass the budget they need to make sure everything else is in place (laws). Timing is everything!

2-19-2013 Med Article: "Urgent .. Channel Iraq: Al-Maliki calls for Barzani to visit Baghdad" BARZANI WILL NEVER GO TO BAGHDAD HE WILL FIND A WAY TO ARREST HIM.

2-19-2013 Phoenix3333 Parliament postponed today's session to Thursday, February 21st for lack of a quorum and the lack of agreement on budget. Just my opinion...But, I don't expect to hear about the budget passing until after the markets are closed on Friday. If they actually pass it, which they better do very soon.

2-19-2013 Doc The really encouraging news is that the core fundamentals appear to be lining up nicely. Much news has detailed work toward HCL, WTO, banking laws, chapter 7 and most importantly neutralizing Maliki. Many have suggested if a stable GOI is required for a RV then we will never see it since Iraq will never be stable. What these fail to understand is Shabibi defined stable as a power sharing system which we all know Maliki has fought tooth and nail to prevent. The recent news suggests a true power sharing GOI is in the works. Also as we speculated 2 weeks ago it is now pretty obvious the Kurds have linked the HCL to the budget for negotiation purposes. What is most encouraging is that our sources and news reports are starting to line up. It appears Iraq is under tremendous pressure from the outside to live up to its potential. Also things like chapter 7 and WTO are being used as a leverage point by the international community. Our opinion is to watch how things unfold concerning Maliki. It appears the other key issues are ready to go on paper and the world is awaiting the power sharing scheme to become real. We do not know which will come first but agree with others that all the issues will most likely be suddenly resolved pretty close to each other. Based on media and other sources we still believe it to be several weeks or longer before all the dominoes are aligned.

2-19-2013 BGG Article: "Nouri al-Maliki offers bribes to MPs to save him from falling" It would appear Maliki is doing everything he can (not even stopping short of bribery and extortion) to maintain his tenuous hold on the Iraqi Prime Ministership. Primarily pointed out in this article is his aim to bribe those of the opposition probable to vote against him when the time comes (as in soon).

2-19-2013 Blaino "REVALUATION WARNING!...Dinaricon Alert level 5+...due to freshly received intel in the last few minutes.

2-19-2013 Kaperoni Article: "Three major Iraqi banks are preparing to protest against the central bank governor and describes" The banks cannot make a profit. Banks are not lending (to risky) and nobody is depositing any money. The CBIs auctions (including all banks) is there way of helping banks survive. At least with the auctions, they make a commission on dollars sold (which all Iraqi’s want). With the promise of international investment, convertibility, and a free market economy all stalled, these banks have nothing. Do you all remember that bank a few months ago that was selling cars to survive? IMO, This is a real mess and the CBI needs to just take control of monetary policy and stop letting Maliki interfere.

2-19-2013 Joey [via RVme] They have Maliki in an uncomfortable position. Maliki can't hold back The House of Representatives passing laws...they're going after 24 more corrupt judges and most likely they're already gone. Also the Integrity Commission is watching Maliki's every move.
