LONDON—Former U.N. weapons inspector Hans Blix and former British political and military leaders have been called for questioning by a panel investigating the Iraq war.

The 35 witnesses to testify before Britain's Iraq war inquiry panel later this month include former British Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott and Eliza Manningham-Buller, the former head of the country's domestic spy agency MI5.

The panel will hear evidence from Blix on whether his team of inspectors were given long enough to establish whether Saddam Hussein was hiding illicit arms.

Also due to testify are Britain's former defense secretary, Bob Ainsworth, and two former army chiefs.

The inquiry investigating mistakes made in the 2003 U.S.-led invasion will resume June 29 in London.
