Iraqi Cabinet spokesman Ali Al Dabbagh affirmed that the United Nations has an assisting role in Iraq, required upon the request of Iraqi Government.
In a meeting with UN Chief representative to Iraq Ed Melkart, Al Dabbagh explained that talks tackled the political situation in Iraq and efforts made by different political parties in order to reach a national solution over the formation of the next government.
Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki and head of Al Iraqiya List Iyad Allawi will meet next week to discuss the political situation and government formation, Al Dabbagh added without specifying the date of the meeting
