UN rep. meets with Kurdish delegation in Baghdad SaturdayUN
Baghdad, Oct.6 (AKnews) – The representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Iraq, Ed Melkert finished on Saturday a brief meeting with the President of the Kurdish delegation in Baghdad , Rose Nuri Shaways, followed by a meeting of representatives of the political blocs.
Dr. Rozh Nuri Shaways and Ad MelkertShaways said in the representatives meeting in his house, attended by AKnews correspondent that “the UN Mission summarized the files that were settled among the blocs and the representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Iraq, Ed Melkert was informed on the progress of the political process in Baghdad.”
“Saturday afternoon will be the final meeting of representatives of the political blocs,” he expected that ” tomorrow might be fixed as the date for the leaders of political blocs meeting, depending on progress in resolving the files, followed by a meeting of the same leaders in Erbil, that is likely to be held next Monday.”
A close source from the representatives said that “the meeting will continue till a late time from today’s tenth meeting to end all discussions and make recommendations for the agenda to the next meeting for the leaders of political blocs.”
The source, who asked not to be named said that “advanced agreement over the files accordance, the Political Council of National Security, the internal system of the Council of Ministers, the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the internal system of Parliament files and the security and economic files to develop a general structure of managing the state.”
The president of Kurdistan Region’s President, Masoud Barzani proposed an initiative to solve the political crisis in September that included forming a committee that included 8 from 12 representatives from the political blocs to start forming the new government talks and work to resolve the disagreements as well as holding meetings for the leaders to solve the three presidencies issue.
The parliament speaker, Foad Maasom announced last Friday delaying the parliament session that he has already called to held next Monday till next Thursday the 11th of November.
The winning political blocs in the elections did not reach agreements over forming the next Iraqi government.
Forming the government crisis coincide with the increase of the armed attacks, car bombs, roadside bombs , robberies and assignations.
