Iraq Cabinet sets deadline to replace General Directors

In the wake of Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki’s decision to give a 100 day deadline to his Cabinet to improve its performance, the ministerial council announced in its exceptional session on Sunday a 60 day deadline for ministries to submit names of incompetent general directors in order to replace them, a source told Alsumaria.

Iraq’s Justice Ministry announced on Sunday the closing of Rasafa Prison and expressed reservation over a proposal in Political Parties Act that appoints it as the supervisory party over granting licenses to political parties.

While the ministers of Municipalities and Technology announced that the ministerial council ratified plans for their ministries, Sunday’s session discussed as well a number of laws and draft laws which will be soon passed to Parliament for legislation.
